A Heart Inventory

A Heart Inventory
A gentle reflective exercise designed to help you explore what your heart is holding, what you may be ready to release, and what you would love to invite in.
One: What I Am Carrying Right Now
The heart holds a great deal without us always realising it. Before we can fill a space, it helps to know what is already in it.
Take a few slow breaths and then ask yourself honestly: what is sitting in my chest right now? It might be something you can name clearly, grief, longing, worry, anger, disappointment, or it might be something vaguer, a heaviness, a flatness, a low hum of something you have not yet found words for. Write down whatever arises without editing it.
My heart is currently holding:
Two: Where I Feel It in My Body
Emotion is not only an experience of the mind. It lives in the body, and the body often knows things before the conscious mind catches up.
Cast your attention through your physical body now. Where do you tend to feel emotion most strongly? Where does stress, sadness, or anxiety tend to land? Is there anywhere that feels habitually tight, heavy, or closed? Is there anywhere that feels particularly alive or open?
In my body, I notice:
Three: What I Have Not Yet Forgiven
This is not a prompt to force forgiveness before you are ready. It is simply an honest inventory, a chance to look clearly at what you are still holding, because we cannot release what we have not first acknowledged.
Forgiveness in this context includes forgiving others for what they did or did not do, forgiving yourself for the same, and forgiving life itself for the ways it has not gone as you hoped or expected.
If I am honest with myself, I am still holding:
And about myself, I have not yet fully forgiven:
Four: What I Would Love to Feel More Of
This call is not only about clearing what does not belong. It is equally about making room for what does. Before you arrive, it helps to know what you are making room for.
Without overthinking it, name the qualities you most want to feel more of in your life right now. These might be emotions, such as joy, peace, or warmth. They might be relational qualities, such as trust, openness, or ease. They might simply be a felt sense that you miss, of being light, or present, or genuinely alive to your own life.
What I most want to feel more of right now is:
Five: My Heart at Its Best
Before we open and expand something, it helps to remember what it feels like when it is already working. Your heart has been fully open before. You have felt genuine joy, real connection, true warmth. Those moments are not gone. They are a reference point.
Bring to mind a time when your heart felt genuinely full. It does not need to be a dramatic moment. It might be something small: a conversation, a place, an ordinary afternoon that somehow felt like enough. Let yourself rest in that memory for a moment before you write.
A time my heart felt genuinely full:
What that felt like in my body:
Six: What I Am Ready to Release
This is your intention for the call. Not what you think you should release, and not what someone else has told you to let go of, but what you, honestly and genuinely, feel ready to put down.
It might be a specific emotion, a story you have been telling about yourself or someone else, a pattern of behaviour, a relationship dynamic, or simply a heaviness you have been carrying for long enough. Trust what comes.
Going into this call, I am genuinely ready to release:
Keep your answers somewhere safe when you are done.
You may find it meaningful to return to them after the call and notice what has shifted.
